👩🎨Annex 1: Risk Management Plan [Template]
A risk assessment is a critical part of planning. This exercise should not deter you from implementing your plans. Instead, it should help you to prepare yourself to manage, address, suppress or prevent risks.
Example of situations that could warrant a risk assessment
Introduction of new LGBTQIA+ related health services
Organizing an LGBTQIA+ event
Publicizing an LGBTQIA+ event, service or campaign on social media
This risks assessment tool is designed to help you map your security concerns. You can use this template to assess your risks in situations.
What are my concerns? e.g. safety of clinic or healthcare service, staff and patients.
What do I want to protect? e.g. data of LGBTQIA+ patients, safety of service, patients and staff
Who do I want to protect it from? e.g from other service seekers, staff, right wing groups, police, etc.
How bad are the consequences if I fail? List down potential consequences, it could be bad google reviews, imposing further harm to marginalized patients, breach of trust, etc.
How likely is it that I will need to protect it? This can be subjective, go through the list of risks and figure out which one has higher likelihood and possibilities to happen. E.g. it is very likely for staff to misgender trans patients, unlikely for police to come to service centers.
How much trouble am I willing to go through to try to prevent potential consequences? Assess how important it is to mitigate the risks, and what are the available financial resources. E.g. organize a staff sensitisation training, attend a workshop on LGBTQIA+’s related health issues.
Who are my allies? Identify persons, organizations who can help you in different situations. E.g. LGBTQIA+ groups, human rights lawyers, queer affirming doctors, etc.
